Past

Lyova hadn't been born fae. Neither of his parents, as far as they knew, had fae blood running through their veins. His mother was a vampire. She had been born such, and so had her parents and grandparents going back several generations. Her parents wished to continue this tradition. They believed in the purity of the blood, and believed that this was lost whenever one changed a vampire. They believed that the other species were food. Nothing more. Nothing less. One did not change one of them into a vampire nor did one breed with them. It was this belief that lead them to arrange the marriage between their daughter and the son of one of the most illustrious families within Kheldzar--the vampire's country. In fact, it was said that this family descended from the first of their kind.

Through, how they were connected to him vary from story to story. Some say the very first vampires within their bloodline had been changed by him. Others claimed that one--if not more--of the vampires born into this family were biologically his. In fact, some of those whom believed the latter stories, also, believed that the man whom Lyova's grandparents had betrothed his mother to was biological his. Whatever the truth might be, his grandparents thought this arrangement was an extremely good one. His mother understanding just how important this marriage was too her parents did everything to ensure that it took place. She went as far as to only have eyes for her betrothed. Anytime she found herself drawn to another she told herself that there was only one man that she wished to be with, and she suspected that this worked as well as it did because she did find her betrothed handsome.

It wasn't just his looks that she found appealing. His personality was something she found herself liking very much. However, no matter how much she found herself liking the man whom her parents had arranged for her to marry she couldn't stop herself from being swept away by another man. He was everything that her parents would have disapproved of. He was rugged, unsophisticated and most of all human. However, her insides felt like they were melting into bliss whenever he smiled at her. She tried to stay away from him. Believing that she could keep herself from succumbing to the temptation if she removed its source, but that proved to be an impossible task. She thought about him even when he wasn't around, and the more she thought about him the more he seemed to show up. It was as if her mere thoughts were a spell that summoned him.

Eventually, she found herself surrendering to these desire. She allowed herself to be with the human in ways that she knew her parents would never approve of. She told herself that it was just a fling, and that it would end as soon as she was married. However, marriage did nothing to keep her from climbing into the human's bed. She continued this affair for several more years until she found herself pregnant with Lyova. She found herself having mixed feelings upon receiving the news. On the one hand, she had always dreamed of being a mother. On the other, she feared whose child it was--even if some small part of her hoped that it was his. Everyone else was excited by the news. They had no reason to suspect that the child growing within womb might not be her husband's. It was until after Lyova was born that any suspicions started to take hold.

It was clear that something was off about Lyova. Yet, no one seemed to be able to figure it out right away. The reason for this might be that no one wanted to admit the possibility--even to themselves. However, try as they might, they couldn't ignore the stolen glances and touches Lyova's mother and the human whom they would discover to be his biological father shared. The more they noticed these glances and touches the more it became clear that this human was his father. In fact, it was becoming increasing obvious that Lyova had not inherited any of his mother's vampiric abilities. As far as his blood showed he was completely and utterly human. His grandparents not wanting to jump to conclusion asked their daughter if there were any truth to these rumors. Did she have a child with a human? They were take aback when she told them yes, and than the rage set in.

They yelled at her. Demanded to know how she could do such a thing. More than that they demanded that she got rid of the child. They did not care how it was done as long as it was. Lyova's mother did not want to do this, but before she could voice this protest allowed her husband spoke up. Now, within her mind he had every reason to be angry with her. She had been unfaithful to him. She had dishonored him and betrayed his trust. If he had told her that he agreed with her parents command--that she should get rid of the child she would find it nearly impossible to deny his request. Yet, he did no such things. What he did only increased the guilt she had over he betrayal. He told her parents that she should not be punished for her husband's crime. She was only being a good and dutiful wife, whom was trying to satisfy her husband's sexual desires. It was his fault she had a child with a human. He knew it was wrong, but he always found humans to be attractive.

For the most part he kept himself from surrendering to that desire, but he did slip up every now and than. The moment he laid eyes upon Lyova's father he knew he would be one of those whom he would surrender to. He was the most beautiful thing he had ever laid his eyes upon--even more beautiful than his wife. He wanted him, but he quickly learned the man did not enjoy the touch of another man. Now, he was never the type to force desire upon those whom didn't hold any for him. So, he tried to push it out of his head. One day he say the object of his infatuation talking to his wife, and he noticed the way the former talked to latter. His wife was polite. If she knew about his attraction to her she did not show it.

It was than that an idea came to him. If he couldn't sleep with the human maybe he could watch him in action. He brought this desire to his wife, and she refused at first. He, however, did not let it end there. He should have. He should not have pressured her to do it the way he did, but he did. Eventually, she submitted to his will--saying that she did so because she loved him, but she only wanted this to be a one time thing. They slept together, and it was a beautiful thing. The way the man thrust into her. It turns him on now just thinking about it, and it was not a one time thing. He had them slept together countless times. The result of this was her child. She loves that child--even if he is a reminder of the way he had mistreated her. He begged Lyova's grandparents not to force her to give her son up. If anyone should be punished for this crime it would be him. He will accept whatever punishment they deem appropriate. He was at their mercy.

It was clear to Lyova's mother that they did not believe this story, but they didn't voice this thought aloud. If he had been telling the truth he would be greatly insulted that they called him a liar, and even if he was lying he would be greatly insulted they called him a liar. There was, also, the fact he would lie for their daughter period. It was not a small lie. It was a great lie that could get him ostracized from his entire social circle, but he was will to risk that for his wife's sake. It was within that moment that Lyova and her parents realized how much he loved her, and so her parents decided to pretend they believed his story. They told Lyova's mother that she could keep her son if that what she wished, but they would not acknowledge him as family. They told her husband never to put her in such a situation again, because the next time they won't be as forgiving.

Half a year passed before Lyova's grandparents revealed to his mother they were done pretending that her husband's story was true. They killed Lyova's biological father and left him in a place where she would find him. This was not done to tell her what would happen if she ever did something like this again, but also to remind her of the order that they had given her six months ago. She will get rid of her child or they will do it for her, and if she failed to do it herself than she would be signing her son's death warrant. This was not something she wanted. She loved her son, and if the only way to save his life was to give him up she would do just that. She grabbed her son, and brought him to Cesloania--home of a witch clan by the name of Salinas. Here he was far enough away for her parents to put any concern over, but close enough for her to visit as often as she liked.

She visited him often, but she wasn't the only one whom did so. His mother's husband did so as well. He had grown fond of Lyova while he had lived within his home. Came to love him like his own son. He did not understand why Lyova's mother brought him here, but she was his mother she knew what was best for him. Neither one of them told the other about their visits and they made Lyova promise that he would not tell anyone bout these visits, because even if they never actually told anyone about them they expect people knew. He grew up happy within the Salinas care. Even through he possessed no magical abilities. They taught him the art of physical combat. He became quite the proficient warrior.

However, it wasn't his skills as a warrior that people took the most notice of. It was his singing voice. His friends joked that he could be spell an entire town with that voice, and lead every last person in that town to their death off the side of a cliff. They told him that he put magic within his songs--more magic than he possibly could imagine and it soon became clear that his voice would draw another to him. He and his friends decided to go into the Forbidden forest. It was something they had done on a number occasions. Sometimes they just explored it. They wished to see if they could find any ruins that forest had buried with the passage of time. Other times they went there to hunt, or try their skills as a warrior against those dangerous creatures that called the forest home--including the fae whom held dominion over it.

The fae were known to be protective over their forest, but they only appealed this protectiveness to those whom they believed wished to destroy their first. Many came into their forest like Lyova and his friends. Some to explore. Others to hunt and some yet to test their skills against the monsters and--in some cases--the fae that dwelled within the forest. It was an unofficial right of passage among the youth of the witch clans for them to enter the forbidden forest and see if they could survive the night. Young witches coming into the forest, also, had benefit for young fae. Many of their first encounter of the other species that populated the world--especially witches came from those whom entered the forest. The fae saw the youth of the witch community whom entered their forest as less as an enemy and more as companions to play games with.

Both sides realized that these were just games, and they tried to keep things from going to far. It didn't always works. Accidents happened and people were hurt--sometimes fatally so. It was one of these accidents that happened to Lyova and his friends during this particular visit within the forest. They came into the forest without a plan, and so when a group of fae around their age approached them for a game of daredevil. It was a game where those participating in tried their hands at extremely dangerous activities that will result in death at the smallest slip up. It was a game that Lyova and his friends had taken part in several times before, and so they saw no reason not to do it. They agreed, and everything was going okay with the game for while. Those taking part in it received a few scraps and bruises, but nothing serious. Than it happened. One of the faes received an injury that was clearly fatal.

It, however, did not take his life right away. He laid there gurgling on his own blood. The fae took off. No one knew where. A couple of his friends believed they wished to get away from the scene of the crime. Another believed they ran to get help--to find a healer among their kind that might be able to save his life, but they all agreed he was too far gone. More than that they agreed they shouldn't be around if they returned. They decided to take off, but Lyova refused to follow. He told them they should be ashamed of themselves. This fae was dying and they were just going to condemn him to do so alone just because they were cowards. His words only gave them moments pause before they took off running. Lyova settle next to the dying fae, and since he had no idea what else to do for him he begun to sing for him. The sounds of his voice seemed to calm the fae--whom in spite his limited abilities to make a sound had clearly been in distress.

It was this scene that Ailionora--Queen of the Summer Court---came upon. Those of his friends had been right the fae had ran off to get help. They had ran to their monarch, believing that if anyone could heal their injured friend that it would be her. She confirmed what Lyova knew was true, that he was too far gone. The only thing she could do was quicken his passing. She reached out, and did just that. She than turned her eyes towards Lyova and thanked him. He would have suffered more if he hadn't sat beside him and sung to him. Lyova had showed great honor within that actions, and she wished to honor him by having a celebration within his name. There was some part of him that told him to refuse, but for whatever reason he couldn't remember why. He just knew that she appeared extremely grateful and that it seemed wrong of him to refuse her to express her gratitude in manner that she wished.

He agreed and went back to where the main hall of her court. Here the celebration commenced. There were lots of food and drink, and Lyova took part in them all. They partied for many hours and than Lyova realized what time it was. He turned to the Summer Queen thanked your for hosting this party within his honor, but he must be heading home. It was than he was reminded why he should have refused her request--or at the very least kept himself from eating or drink anything--in the first place. She told him that was no longer his home. His home was here with her. He was hers. He was taken aback by this. He refused to accept it even after she told him that he had already accepted it by drinking her wine and eating her food.

He took off running. He ran until he was out of the forest, and he continued to run towards home. He told himself that if he made it there someone could undo what he had done, or perhaps the simple act of making it there would break the hold Ailionora claimed to have upon him. He didn't make it there. About halfway to his goal, he was knocked to the ground from the most intense pain. He let out a screamed, closed his eyes for a few moments and tried to will the agony away. When he opened his eyes The Summer Queen was standing there. She told him that there was nothing he could do to stop the change from happen. He was hers. He had been hers since the moment he was born.

The proof was within his voice. It had the ability to sooth and comfort those within her dominion. He told her that it wasn't just her people that his voice seemed to affect, and she simply told him that such a detail didn't matter. Her people were only soothed and comforted in the way he did that dying fae by the things that are actually connected to her. She than went back to telling him that he could not stop the change. It was happening, and running away from her would only make it that much more painful and volatile, which could lead to those around him being hurt. It was the latter that convinced him to return with her. Through, he made it clear to her that he was not at all happy with what she had done.

Present

Many years have passed since that day and Lyova has since accepted his fate. He has since come to realize that she had been right that he had belonged to her, but he does like to tease her about tricking him to accept this truth. He sometimes even jokingly tell her that he will become a solitary fae, but they both knew he was too much of her summer to ever actually do that. If he was ever going to become a solitary fae it would not be underneath her rule, and even than it would be difficult to imagine. He has kept in contact with those whom he had cared about since the change, at least the ones whom had accepted the change.

Many of his friends had passed since that day, but a couple of them had ascended. Becoming a fae, also, made him realize that his friends had been right that there was magic within his voice. He has learned how to harness this magic, and can use it to help or hurt anyone he wishes. Through, there are those whom doesn't seem as affected or affected at all by his voice. He, also, has learned how to harness the abilities he gained from becoming a fae. He has fully embraced being a fae and everything that comes with it--even their accent.
